Changes to prescription requests and medical certificates - to improve on our work-flow and ensure your prescription requests and Medical Certificates are made ready, with effect from September 2019 it will now be 72 hours for these to be completed. Please ensure that you order your medication before you run out.

Medical Certificates cannot be ordered before they run out, but they can be back dated if required so there are no gaps.

Self Referral Physiotherapy - Did you know that you do not always have to be referred to physiotherapy by a clinician.  Portland has a self-referral service for Portland Patients.  If you have any muscular pain then please pop into reception for a self-referral form.

We are working with Optum International (UK) to conduct a one-off piece of analytics work to support the care and treatment of the population registered with GPs in Dorset.

A small number of analytics specialists from Optum in the UK team, all of whom are based in the UK, will have access to pseudonymised data. This means that Optum will not be able to identify any individual and the data they receive will ensure anonymity. Optum has a long track record of working with and within the NHS are fully compliant with all necessary data protection laws.

Once the work with Optum is complete, they will delete the data from their systems. Patients who have chosen not to share their data will be excluded from the extract at source and their data will not be extracted from the GP system.

In addition Weymouth & Portland GPs are working with Optum, who will spend time observing and evaluating how the practice functions to quantify potential areas of improvement for both clinical and back office service delivery.  Optum are the preferred development partner with NHS England and, as with all our team, have suitable governance in accordance with all applicable laws, privacy notices and in accordance with all contracts.

Welcome to Royal Manor Health Care

Econsult Service econsult

We are afraid that the practice is facing an unprecedented level of sickness within our clinical team at present. We are doing everything we can to provide as many appointments as possible. We would respectfully ask patients to consider if an appointment is absolutely necessary or if other healthcare professionals such as pharmacists could assist you. We thank you for your co-operation at this time.

Walk in and Wait - Listening to Patients

Walk in and Wait surgeries are still available, but we have listened to what our patients are telling us.  Walk in and Wait is now available from 08:30 at the Easton Surgery, however should the surgery be very busy, patients have a choice to wait in the surgery or to be given a time to return that morning should they wish to do so.  Please note: Walk in and Wait is no longer available in the afternoon.

Here at Royal Manor Health Care we try very hard to meet the needs of all our Patients, but we need your help to do this. You can help us by cancelling unwanted appointments as soon as possible. Every month we have a large number of appointments that get wasted due to missed appointments. We now have a dedicated email for your convenience.  Email:

If you don't need the appointment another patient can make use of it!

On-line services gives patients the option to book appointments, request repeat prescriptions and view their GP records, using their computer, tablet or smartphone rather than having to phone or visit the practice.

Online services complement the existing ways patients can access appointments, prescriptions and their records.  Our practice already has the facility to offer online access.  If you are not already registered for  online services please let a member of the practice team know that you would like to use this service, you can download the necessary forms here too.

Using our on-line services are easy, just come into the surgery with some photo identification to get a personalized log-in and password.  So just ask one of our receptionists to set this up for you - they will be happy to help.

When you have your unique log-in information, please click on the 'Appointments/Repeat Prescription' tab of our web-site home page and follow the links.

Electronic Prescribing Service

This means that, in most cases, instead of printed prescriptions, we are now able to send them electronically to the various Pharmacies.  If you would like to take advantage of this service, please speak to one of the Receptionists who will be able to advise you further.

It is a contractual requirement for GPs as imposed by the NHS that by the end of March 2016 every patient must have a named GP. Please ask at reception if you are unsure.
